Start at the dot and trace each number. Then write it on your own.

Say each word, trace it, then copy it. Leave a small space between words.

Now write without tracing. Do your best writing!

Answer: Child writes their own first name, e.g. Mia. Accept any legible attempt; look for a capital first letter and letters sitting on the line.
18.How old are you? Write the number:
Answer: The child's age as a numeral, e.g. 5. Check the numeral is formed the right way round.
19.Write one word you can read all by yourself:
Answer: Any word the child can read and write, e.g. cat, mum, I, a. Praise the attempt and check letter formation.
Marking tips
- Give credit for correct method even when the final answer slips — the working shows where the thinking went right.
- For open-ended tasks, use the success criteria as a checklist rather than looking for one "right" answer.
- Celebrate what went well first, then pick one thing to work on next.
