Free Year 2 Handwriting: Tall, Short and Tail Letters Worksheet

Children learn that lowercase letters come in three sizes: tall letters (b, d, h, k, l, t) reach up high, short letters (a, c, e, o, s) sit between the lines and tail letters (g, j, p, q, y) hang below the line. They sort letters by size, trace words that mix all three and copy a short sentence. Getting letter sizes right makes writing much easier to read.
