Free Year 6 Punctuating Direct Speech with Quotation Marks Worksheet

Students learn the rules for punctuating direct speech: quotation marks around the spoken words, a capital letter to start the speech, a comma, question mark or exclamation mark inside the closing quotation mark, a comma before speech that follows the speaker's name, and a new line for each new speaker. They pick the correctly punctuated sentence, add missing punctuation, punctuate split speech and set out a whole conversation.
