Say the verb in a sentence out loud: Today I ..., Yesterday I ..., I have ...

Part A: Simple past

Irregular verbs do not add -ed in the past tense. They change in their own way. Write the simple past.

1.Today I write. Yesterday I (answer space).
2.Today I sing. Yesterday I (answer space).
3.Today I swim. Yesterday I (answer space).
4.Today I catch. Yesterday I (answer space).
5.Today I think. Yesterday I (answer space).
6.Today I fly. Yesterday I (answer space).
7.Today I teach. Yesterday I (answer space).
8.Today I freeze. Yesterday I (answer space).

Part B: After has or have

After has or have, many irregular verbs use a different form, called the past participle: I wrote, but I have written. Write the correct form of the verb at the end of each sentence.

9.She has (answer space) three letters. (write)
10.We have (answer space) that song before. (sing)
11.The pond has (answer space) over. (freeze)
12.He has (answer space) his pencil. (break)
