First find how much each space is worth: (end − start) ÷ number of spaces.
1.A number line goes from 900 to 1,100 and is split into 4 equal spaces. The arrow is 3 spaces along from 900. What number does the arrow point to?
Answer: 1,050
- Each space is (1,100 − 900) ÷ 4 = 50
- 900 + 3 × 50 = 1,050
2.A number line goes from 300 to 700 and is split into 4 equal spaces. The arrow is 2 spaces along from 300. What number does the arrow point to?

- Each space is (700 − 300) ÷ 4 = 100

3.What number is halfway between 90 and 630?

- 630 − 90 = 540; half of that is 270
