Kangaroos

Read the information about kangaroos.

Kangaroos are animals that live in Australia. They have strong back legs and a long, thick tail.

Kangaroos do not walk. They hop! A big kangaroo can hop very fast and very far. Its tail helps it to balance.

Kangaroos eat grass and plants. They like to eat in the early morning and in the evening when it is cool. In the hot part of the day, they rest in the shade.

A baby kangaroo is called a joey. A joey is tiny when it is born. It lives in its mother's pouch where it is warm and safe. It drinks milk and grows bigger every day.

A group of kangaroos is called a mob.
