Most 'shun' endings are spelt -tion, but some words use -sion instead. -sion often makes a softer 'zhun' sound (television, decision) and usually comes from a base word ending in -de or -se (decide → decision, confuse → confusion). -ssion makes a 'shun' sound and comes from base words ending in -ss or -mit (discuss → discussion, permit → permission).
