Free Year 5 Subject–Verb Agreement Worksheet

Students learn that a verb must match its subject: a singular subject takes a singular verb (the dog barks) and a plural subject takes a plural verb (the dogs bark). They work through the tricky cases: words like everyone and each, phrases that sit between the subject and the verb, and sentences starting with 'there'. Agreement errors are among the most common in student writing and are easy to fix once the subject is found.
