Free Year 6 Clauses and Sentence Editing Worksheet
Students learn to spot the three most common sentence faults (fragments, run-ons and comma splices) and to fix them using conjunctions, semicolons or full stops. They also combine sentences with relative pronouns (who, that, where) and edit a short paragraph. Editing at sentence level is where upper primary writing makes its biggest gains in clarity.

Every sentence needs a main clause. Two main clauses need a proper join.
Part A — Diagnose the sentence
A fragment is missing a main clause. A run-on jams two sentences together without proper joining (a comma on its own is not enough). Circle the diagnosis.
