Free Year 7 English Worksheets — Australia

8 free english resources for Year 7, organised by topic with answer sheets, study guides and topic tests.

English develops reading, writing, spelling and grammar together. Strong readers write better, and students who understand sentence structure read with more understanding. Our English resources separate those strands so you can target the one that needs work, while reading passages, writing prompts and grammar activities all reinforce one another.

Common questions

Do writing tasks have answers?

Writing prompts include a model opening and clear success criteria rather than a single 'correct' answer, so parents and teachers can give useful feedback.

Are the reading passages original?

Yes. All passages are written by Success Tutoring and checked for age-appropriate vocabulary and sentence length.

Are these aligned to NAPLAN?

Resources tagged NAPLAN practise the same text types and skills NAPLAN assesses. They are NAPLAN-style and not official test papers.

How to use these resources

  1. Pair a reading comprehension with a writing prompt on a similar text type.
  2. Use the model answers and success criteria on the answer sheet to talk through what 'good' looks like.
  3. Keep spelling practice short and daily; test on Friday.
  4. Edit a piece of writing together using the grammar worksheet for the skill they're learning.
