Free Year 7 Writing an Explanation: Cause and Effect, Sequence and Connectives Worksheet

Students learn how an explanation text tells readers how or why something happens. Using an original model explanation of how a rainbow forms, they identify the opening definition, the sequence of causes and effects and the concluding statement, use time and cause-and-effect connectives such as as a result, therefore and because, turn a flow chart into linked sentences, and write their own explanation of a natural or everyday process.
