Free 8th Grade Modality and Objective Language in Formal Reports Worksheet

Students learn to control how certain they sound in formal writing by choosing high, medium or low modality, and to match their certainty to the strength of their evidence. They sort objective and subjective statements, remove personal opinion and emotive words from report sentences, and finish by editing an informal draft report into a formal, objective one.
