Common questions

What do Year 3 students learn about multiplication?

Times tables, arrays and multi-digit multiplication. At Year 3, our resources focus on: understanding multiplication as equal rows in an array; understanding turn-around facts (4 × 6 = 6 × 4); splitting a tricky fact into easier partial products; multiplying a two-digit number by a one-digit number by splitting into tens and ones.

Where should we start?

Read the study guide first, then start with the Level 1 or Level 2 worksheet. Finish with the topic test.

Are answers included?

Yes — every worksheet has an answer sheet. Maths answer sheets show the working; English tasks include model answers or success criteria.

How to use these resources

  1. Start with the Level 1 worksheet for the topic — if it's easy, move up a level.
  2. Use the answer sheet's working, not just the final answer, to check the method.
  3. Finish a topic with the topic test to see whether the skill is secure.
  4. Two or three short sessions a week beat one long one.
